Little Bowler Hat

"Cock your hat - angles are attitudes"
 -Frank Sinatra

I don't often wear a bowler hat, and this shoot was forever ago now, but I've been taking some film subjects at University this semester and when I came across these pictures today they brought a little smile to my face as I recalled the Charlie Chaplin movies I've been watching.

This Spring seems to be all about hats for me - fedoras with floral dresses and boots, but I'm also loving the classic seventies influence everywhere, with the different textures, embellishments and colour palette that go along with it. Navy blue and burnt orange aren't colours I would normally wear, but these photos remind me that I definitely just bought a seude, fringed jacket in a brown/red, and was eyeing off a beautiful dark blue shirt in Topshop the other day. As for skirts - I seem to be wearing more of them lately than I ever have before. "Everything old is new again", (whether a couple of years old like these pictures, or decades old like the 70s) and that's the way I like it.

Bedford Ave Street Style (& More)

I ran into my lovely friend Jacqui in the subway this week and it just so happened she was scouting for Refinery 29's 'Subway Stalking: Spring Edition', so she snapped a few pictures of me.

She's insanely talented, so check her out at: www.jacquelineharriet.com and www.jacquelineharriet.tumblr.com

While I'm on the topic of Jacqui, now is probably a good time to also share this lovely pic she took of me in Washington Square Park a few months ago:

Anyway, without further ado, here are the pictures.

Topshop jumper/sweater

PARADISE LOST

"The mind is its own place, and in itself can make a heaven of hell, a hell of heaven..."
-John Milton, Paradise Lost

A windy, rainy graveyard, overlooking the ocean with two friends, a camera and some awkward outfit changes... Not a bad day at all. We laughed our way through the whole shoot, and the results are probably my favourite photos ever.

Lolita

"It was love at first sight,
and at last sight,
at ever and ever sight."

"And the rest is rust and stardust."
-Vladimir Nabokov, Lolita

These photographs are from an impromptu picnic in my home town with one of my best friends, Lois.

Just before the sun set, we gathered together blankets, some old books, and my mother's vintage plates  and drove to Oatley Park. Lois brought her film camera and asked to take a few photos of me.

The idea was to emulate a retro, playful and childlike feel, hence the title of the post: 'Lolita', named after the famous literary nymphet immortalised by Vladimir Nabokov. So I put my hair in a ponytail, put on some lipstick and we played around in the afternoon sunlight. It was a perfect afternoon.

"One Fine Day"

Here is a selection of promo shots for the 2013 One Fine Day Bridal Fair (http://onefinedayweddingfair.com.au), held annually in Sydney and Melbourne, Australia. Photos were taken at the Cronulla Sand Dunes in Southern Sydney, and featured in Cosmo Bride magazine.

I LOVED working with everyone involved, especially Megan (makeup) and Melissa (hair) who are some of the most hilarious and kind souls I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. Their sense of humour helped as myself and the other models posed as glowing brides despite the FREEZING cold wind!
